A FEW USEFUL DETAILS

Practical answers for better results.

Does my video get uploaded?

No. File reading, frame extraction, image encoding, and ZIP creation happen in your browser. The example video is downloaded from this site when you choose to try it. See the privacy details.

Which videos can I open?

Support depends on both the file container and the video codec, as well as your browser. H.264 MP4 and VP8/VP9 WebM are the priority formats. HEVC, HDR, and some MOV files need extra care. Read the compatibility guide.

How precise are the frame timestamps?

The preferred Mediabunny path records the source video’s decoded presentation timestamps. Compatible preview mode uses approximate browser seek times and cannot find the true last frame. The workspace tells you which path is active. Navigation by 0.1 seconds is a time adjustment, not a previous/next-frame step.

Will the images keep the original quality?

Choose original size to preserve the decoded frame dimensions. PNG avoids extra JPEG compression, but it cannot remove motion blur or restore missing detail. Browser color conversion can also affect HDR or wide-gamut footage.

Can I extract every frame of a long video?

Free focuses on up to 12 images from one video. Pro sample workflows also support time intervals and larger tasks. For exhaustive frame sequences or demanding color workflows, a desktop FFmpeg workflow may be more suitable.

Why are there limits?

Free has a 12-image workspace limit. Pro samples use the separate device safeguards for decoded images and ZIP files: up to 500 frames and 500 MB of image data per ZIP on desktop, or 100 frames and 100 MB on mobile. These are guardrails, not verified maximum device capabilities.
